A Child’s Hope Community
The plan is to provide an environment aimed at giving kids a real shot at life in an educational, vocational, recreational and spiritual way.
The facility will accept children in groups of 5 to 10 to start, and feature education, athletic and housing to create a place for the children to call home. Plans call for the children to be raised in family units ranging from infants to preteens; and the facility will have a full-time staff of teachers, counselors, agriculture experts and medical professionals who live and work at the facility.
Most structures on the campus will be naturally ventilated, when power is needed, it will be collected on-site through the use of renewable resources such as solar, wind and rain water harvesting. These natural resources will make the community a truly sustainable and self-supporting environment that is both independent and educational.
One of the goals of A Child’s Hope is to create a facility that is self-sustaining and to teach the children how to eventually support themselves. By doing our own farming (the importance of acquiring land), growing and selling of coffee beans, and by establishing jewelry and craft business, all of which is aimed at creating a self running eco-system.
Ground was broke on the first two buildings of A Child’s Hope community in 2014. In 2016 these buildings are finished, complete with a cistern to collect rain water, beds, and food for the children and staff. By your generous donations and God’s provision we were also able to drill for water on the mountain. La Montagne now has 4 fully functional wells providing a clean, reliable water source for hundreds of families. Freedom Solar will be installing solar panels at A Child’s Hope community to provide a sustainable source of energy for basic needs as well as an aquaponics system. The following buildings and infrastructure will help complete the community in order for us to grow to our target of bringing 300 children home:
